GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

The State requires that all students successfully complete a certain series of courses to be eligible for graduation. Guidelines to receive a high school diploma from Deweyville High School a student must:

  • Pass the TAKS - ELA, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies or pass the TAAS - Writing, Mathematics, Reading if first year of high school was the 2000-2001 school year or earlier.
  • Earn a minimum of 26 credits out of a possible 28.
  • Meet all TEA course requirements as specified in the degree plans.
  • Attend school at least 90% of the 180 days.

Course requirements:

English - 4 Credits – English 1, 2, 3, 4
Mathematics - 3 credits to include: Algebra 1, Geometry
Science - 2 credits to include:Biology, IPC
Social Studies – 4 credits-World Geography, World History, US History, Economics-1/2, US Government-1/2
PE - 1 credits to include: Foundations of Personal Fitness
Health -
Language other than English - None
Fine Arts - None
Communication Applications-
BCIS - 1 credit
Additional Components - 5 credits

RECOMMENDED
Course requirements:

English - 4 credits-English 1, 2, 3, 4
Mathematics - 3 credits to include: Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2
Science - 3 credits to include: Biology
and IPC, Chemistry, Physics or Principles of Technology
