PIRATE BAND
ALL REGION BAND MEMBERS SELECTED
The All Region Band audition process was moved to a virtual format this year. Students auditioning had to record their music and submit it through a computer which was then judged by band directors in the region.
Deweyville is proud to recognize the following students for not only placing in the ATSSB All Region Band but also making the Area Band. Senior, Layne Dunbar was named 3rd chair tuba in the Wind Ensemble; junior, Tilman Strickland was awarded 2nd chair alto saxophone in the Symphonic Band and junior, Carlin Bailey was named 8th chair trombone in the Symphonic Band. These students will submit another recording in January which will be their audition for the All State Band.
PIRATE BAND CONTINUES TO MAKE HISTORY
The Pirate Band competed in the UIL Area Marching Band Contest on December 5th at Lindale High School. The 30 members were up before sunrise ready to perform their best and be selected to move on to the 2A State Marching Contest in San Antonio.
Even though the band did not advance, history was made TWICE. For the very first time in school history, the Pirate Band was awarded an Area Finalist plaque and also named the State Alternate. We are very proud of these students and the hard work they have put in during a very “unique” marching band season.
Band members are:
12th Grade: Layne Dunbar and Jonathan Jenkins
11th Grade: Carlin Bailey, Kade Durio, Lee Hebert, Mattheu Linscomb, Bryce Raymer, Angela Sifuentes, Abby Stanley, Tilman Strickland
10th Grade: Aleicia Huerta
