The Pirate Band did a fantastic job representing Deweyville at the Area C marching band contest on Saturday, October 27. This was the third time in school history to advance to the Area competition. The 35 member band competed against other bands with twice as many members and a larger number of high school students as well. Congratulations to these students and the accomplishment of reaching the next level once again.
Band Advances to Area for the Third Time
The Pirate Band received excellent ratings at the UIL Region Marching contest on Saturday, October 20 at Port Neches Groves High School. The ratings from the three judges were high enough to advance the band to the next level of competition. Deweyville will compete against other 2A schools from Northeast and Southeast Texas. The Area Marching Contest will be held on Saturday, October 27 at Pine Tree ISD stadium in Longview.
The 35-member band has been battling the weather all year long and we are extremely happy for the juniors and seniors to have this 3rd and final opportunity to advance to Area. For the 8th, 9th and 10th grade members this will be their second advancement and they will not have another chance until 2020. Experiencing this elite band competition for the very first time will be the 12 seventh graders in the band.
Performance time for UIL Marching Contest on Saturday, October 20 at PNG HS is 10:30AM
