Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ARP ESSER)

ESSER IIIThe American Rescue Plan (ARP) Elementary and Secondary Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER III) provides over $12,000,000,000 to the State of Texas. The U.S. Department of Education has allocated $1,036,394 to Deweyville Independent School District.

The District is required to spend at a minimum 20% to address learning loss due to COVID-19 in the form of summer schools and after school programs, while the remaining amount must be spent on activities tied to needs arising/caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

ESSER III INFORMATION AND LINKS

  • ESSER III Plan Development Stakeholder Survey- Available May 19-27th- Deweyville ISD collected stakeholder input for consideration in the plan development phase of the American Rescue Plan Relief Fund under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. Your meaningful insight helped the district focus efforts on identified need areas to address needs arising from the coronavirus pandemic.
  • Tentative ESSER III Timeline- Deweyville ISD has developed the referenced timeline to ensure ample time for meaningful stakeholder comments can be analyzed prior to applying for funds.
  • DISD COVID-19 Protocols and Procedures-posted 6/1/21 Deweyville ISD COVID-19 Health Team met on 05/17/2021 to update the District's protocols and procedures manual and it has been posted for stakeholder review. The district will collect stakeholder comments on the updated plan June 1st until June 17th. The manual will then be included in the June 21st board meeting for public comment. This plan will be reviewed every 6 months and will enter into the public comment process each time it is updated.
    • 6 month review-The district met and updated the COVID-19 plan to reflect current health guidance published by TEA. Updates to the plan are highlighted in yellow. Updated 1/10/2022-Public Comment period- 1/10/22-02/21/22-Final Comments board meeting 2/21/22 @ 6:00PM
  • DISD ESSER III Fund Usage Plan- posted 6/15/21- Deweyville ISD has gathered and analyzed stakeholder input from community members, teachers, staff, parents and guardians, Campus Improvement Committee on both campuses, and administrators to form the DISD ESSER III Fund Usage Plan. The district solicited stakeholder input on the final plan before applying for funds. This survey was available 6/15/21-6/21/21. The Fund Usage Plan was also included in the June 21st board meeting for public comment.--See results from this survey below.

 

  • Update 1/21/22-The district has identified an immediate additional need related to the recent outbreak and increase in cases of COVID-19 and its variants. DISD feels school bus cameras are needed to help with early symptomatic detection for those that may have been exposed to COVID-19 positive individuals while riding a district school bus. The district is posting the updated ESSER III plan to include this change and will be collecting stakeholder input from 1/21/22-02/21/22. There will be a time allotted for public comment of this change at the next board meeting (02/17/2022 @ 6:00PM).  DISD ESSER III Fund Usage Plan-Spanish
  • Update 10/17/2022- In light of recent events in school atmospheres across Texas-the district has identified additional ways to help the students have access to a safe, secure education. The district collected input from stakeholders 09/21/2022-09/28/2022 to help determine whether this was the best course of action for the funds. Click here to review the results of that survey. The stakeholders overwhelmingly agreed the district is doing extremely well addressing learning loss and that there could be improvement for safety. As a result, administration felt comfortable allocating some funds to improving the student's safety environment. here will be a time allotted for public comment of this change at the next board meeting (10/17/2022 @ 6:00PM).
